Diplomacy is the best policy

On planet earth these days everyone likes the people who say things they wanna hear... there is no place for the people who have a different opinion “if ur good 2 me, ur the nicest person alive or I know 101 things that make u a loser in life”. Normally when we hear the word diplomacy all we can think of are the big politicians, film stars and business men… but I think being diplomatic helps us in our personal lives as well. I mean it’s so important!

Tell ur business partner that he’s ideas are bullshit and he’ll see tht next time he gives u a bullshit idea again… appreciate he’s ideas and say thanx and he’ll come up with a better idea tomorrow.

Tell ur wife she’s the best cook in the universe and u may get a sweet dish with dinner tomorrow (and sum peace)… tell her that she has screwed it up as always and tomorrow ull be searching dinner in sum restaurant.

Try bargaining for a comp at lamington road as if u know it all... and ull end up paying more than ur budget... try bargaining, letting him(shopkeeper) know that he knows it all... and ur in for a good deal!

Tell ur gal her hair is soft as silk (although they remind u of the sparrow nest on ur terrace u cleared last Sunday) and u won’t have 2 worry about taking her out for atleast a week …. Get angry and speak the truth... and u won’t have 2 worry about taking her out ever again!!

Tell ur frnd trying to imitate SRK that he’s a jerk and may b the next time he talks to u is when u c Halley’s comet … tell him that SRK is a jerk … hmmm that might not end up being so destructive.

Angrily tell ur carpenter that he dint hammer a nail in ur chair properly which ended up poking u… and he will see that 2 other nails poke ur gutsy ass for telling him that he was bad!... tell him that it was ur fault that the nail poked u!... and he’ll fix 2 more other chairs with a smile!

So what’s the solution then? … Telling everyone what they wanna here… even if that makes u sound stupid? No, not at all! I am not saying that we should keep saying nice things to everyone even when they don’t deserve it and make the rest (sometimes them included) think that u need a psychologists. Well that’s precisely not what I am trying to convey. I know sometimes u just can’t resist telling someone that he/she is screwing it up big time and may be it will end up being another “Halley’s comet” example, but that’s an exceptional case… where trying to be diplomatic will just make u sound insane… but for the rest of the problems we can always try the diplomatic way!

I mean what’s with being honest all the time... if that honesty is going to kill the relations around u. Can’t that bitter truth be diluted in some nice sentences and presented to the next person?? Instead of “frankly” telling someone “u know what, this dress really does not suit u, I don think u can carry off this color well” and expecting that poor someone to have the b***s to face it... if we try saying “well, this dress is ok... but I think u look cool in blue”.. I don’t think the sun will stop shinning!! Well I know its not always easy and the above example is a bit over exaggerated, I still feel diplomacy can really solve day to day problems, and being diplomatic does not mean being dishonest!

Sehwag celerbrates Holi in style !!!

11th Mar 09 - just while the entire country was celebrating holi in their backyards .. Sehwag had completely other plans for the day, while he played the 4th ODI in New Zealand, he preferred playing with the kiwi bowling attack rather than colors.

After hammering fourteen 4's and six 6's .. Sehwag went on to become the first Indian cricketer to score a 100 (103) of just 60 balls... Sehwag left behing Mohammad Azharuddin's record of 100 in 62 balls when he hit a Daniel Vettori delivery over his head to bring up his hundred in the 18th over of the rain-truncated match to better Azharuddin by two balls. Interestingly Azharuddin's fastest 100 also came against the kiw's in Baroda in 1988.

Now the question remains can sehwag break
Shahid Afridi's record by scoring a 100 in less than 37 balls? ..

all that comes to my mind after seeing this sehwag performance is jai ho!

IE can B turned off in Win 7

Yeah that’s right... IE can now be turned off in the new Windows 7!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just after European Commission (EC) sent Microsoft a statement of objections accusing the US software giant of unfairly tying Internet Explorer (IE) to windows and after Google too applied to join in the European Commission’s antitrust investigation in to Microsoft’s browser strategy…It seems like Microsoft has come out with a new defensive strategy in reply. Windows Media Center, Windows Media Player, Windows Search (4.0), Internet Explorer 8 and several other features would now have a “disable” option in the new Windows 7.

The complaint was originally brought before the EC by Opera Software, which said that Microsoft's practice of bundling Internet Explorer with its Windows operating system was anticompetitive behavior.

The disable option now allows the users to access browsers of their choice and tries to nullify all arguments, thus making Win 7 appear to have more control, flexibility and more choice of managing their programs. So has Microsoft done enough to save its skin???

Well there a couple of obstacles …

  1. IE is enabled by default for ALL new Windows installations, so most people will just stick with it. The turnoff / disable option is a post-setup ‘step’ … there is no option to completely remove IE… & even if you are never going to look at it, it would still mean that IE very much remains on your system.
  2. It is firmly believed that IE components are still used within the Windows Update app in Win 7.
well so may b Microsoft still has some work to be done ...

As far as ppl like me are concerned.. who are not very fond of IE .. i don't think IE enabled or disabled will make any difference.
