4way traffic

“But why can’t I marry him mom???” shouted Mary as loud as she could..

“Because he is not from our cast!!” replied mom trying to match the volume levels

“But he is a nice guy!!”

“How can he be a nice guy when he is not from our cast???”

“Huh??”

“Don’t you know Samantha?? That chick from the next building?? She ran away with sum burger!! 2 months later we came to know, that guy was drinking milk at home as well as having milkshake with someone else”.

“But mom all men are not same!!”

“Oh yes that’s true!! The other guy who married Janice went abroad to work; it’s more than 5 years now he is not back. They say he works less on the office table and more on Lori, his boss” pointed out mom wisely.

“But meet him atleast once!!!”
____________________________________________________________________

“Meet him once??” replied Sonia’s dad in anger!! “That guy is so poor that if I call a ‘poor man’ poor in front of him, the ‘poor man’ will feel bad”

“But dad he loves me, I’l adjust!” cried Sonia

“Love!!!! What do you kids know about love!??” yelled fuming dad, “As though we never loved.. Our Love was fucking? And your fucking is love?? Wah!!”

“Dad!! It’s not that way ” Sonia was in tears, “please understand a job is a job.. And then he is a good cleaner he might get promotion soon”

“Yeah?  ... and what will he become then?? Head Cleaner of his department??”

“Is that all matters?”
___________________________________________________________________

“Oh yes it does matter   ! You need to be a M.S. Payal, or my family will not accept you”

“But Bhavesh! I can’t do it .. I’ve already screwed the entrance test… even if I get through I don’t think ill manage to get a seat in your institute and if that doesn’t happen, what’s the point of doing M.S. We won’t even be able to tell your parents we met at the same insti  … and anyways I am pretty bad at studies you know na… ”

“Yes I know, but my folks want M.S. what can I do?”

“When I was in the 5th standard.  I joined tuitions; that sir they said was awesome and had many students..  after 2 yrs I was still in the 5th and that guy had no students….  then next year he said he’l pay me if I stop coming for tuitions  … you know this na Bhavesh? Still you want me to do MS? ”

“But baby I can’t help it. My great grandfathers father once cheated in the exams in his school days… he was caught and punished… not only that, later some locals caught him like a rat and tattooed his hand  -  ‘mera baap nahi, mein cheater hoon ’ … from that day onwards he pledged on his pet cat Jammuna  that everyone in his family would study and get big degrees  without cheating”

“I donno what to say ” Sighed Payal
________________________________________________________________________
“Means?”, Tasneem was confused!

“Means I just donno what to say sweety”, mom sounded worried.

“But why mom? What is the problem If I like him??”

“That guy! .. um .. I mean .. he is so not meant for you .. Infact he is so not meant for anyone ”

“just because hes dark?”

“No darling he is not only dark! He is scary! … the way he looks people is as if hes doing them a favor by letting them breathe – that killer stare, and then his jet black color, huge built, those such  big rapist-like-eyes that can make a chick piss in her pants if she is alone and sees him in the dark….

_______________________________________________________________________

W!((!@M : “So these are your stories …. Hmmm sad yaa … no wonder all of you’l decided to conf-call so late in the night ”

Tasneem: “I just donno what to do people.. I just love him.. but my mom..”

Mary:”same here !! I am so fedup.. cant convience my parents too”

Payal: “that’s understandable yaar .. in my case .. my guy only is a freaking asshole … he’s making me study to marry him… wtf!”

Sonia: “…and my pop said he is gonna kill me and anyone who helps me ”

W!((!@M: “ahem  ahem …  ah … girls… I agree all this is crazy… wish I could Help .. ah.. yeah but ill blog about it” :angelic smile:

There are some who eat to live and there are those who live to eat. I proudly belong to the second category coz I love to frequently indulge in gluttony. I share this passion with my bestie William, who has sweetly asked me to be a guest blogger and is constantly encouraging me to blog myself.

Food is and will always have a special place in our lives. Birthdays, anniversaries, festivals, celebrations big and small are incomplete without delectable delights and what makes it special is sharing it with the ones we love.

It’s a foodie’s dream to have a seven course meal - apetisers, soups, sorbets, fish, meats, mouth watering deserts with fine table service. (Snap me out of this quick….. pls!!!). Hmmmm fine dining may be a luxury but who says that good food only comes with white glove service and an inflated bill. Any true Mumbaikar knows that street food is an essential to a food lover’s diet. Be it the Indianized Chinese, South Indian spread, sandwiches or local wada pav. Street food sure makes binging more affordable.

The best part of being a foodie is that we create memories with the people we grab a bite with. I can never forget the fun I had with my besties eating Kheema Pav at Metro Café, fish fingers and chips at Mondegar’s, Chicken wontons at Leopold’s, Chicken Chilly at Gokul’s, Chicken Crispies at Café Churchgate, Pav Bhaji at Liberty, Kebab Platter at Delhi Darbar, Sizzlers at Kobe’s, Sandwich near Nirmala Niketan, Burgers and McDonalds and the latest Chicken Koliwada on Eid. I could go on and on. Please note I am not endorsing any restaurants. They are just my favourite foods, at favourite places with my favourite people.

So while I hope to continue pampering my taste buds, I wish everyone a great palate and great pals. Cheers!!!

Thanks for kicking my butt into doing this. Enjoyed it thoroughly."  - Fiona Rodrigues

Les Misérables - my review

OH well no! this year I am not going to blog only about Movies..  there are a few posts in the making ... but then I watched this movie and would like to write about it ... huh ?? arey its my blog yaar !! I can write about anyone !! (yes indeed i have applied for a bail)

ok so to start with .. its a Musical! But beware: it's not strictly a musical. There's no dancing, there are no jazz hands and there is next to no speech. Rather, it is lobotomized opera, in which incidental dialogues appear !

I was impressed when I read a post that said director Hooper's big innovation is that his actors sing "live" – that is, they taped the vocal tracks while shooting, rather than in post-production – to amp up the realism

well I had good time... some nice popcorn , pepsi and comfy seats at Metro (marine lines, mumbai), good company... {also we went for the morning show so the tickets cost less}. Although it was hard to sit for a musical without getting bored ... I did have a good time

So would like to end this by mentioning a review from 'Rotten tomatoes' {yeah I know you'l need an second opinion with a lot of technical details... }

'Rotten tomatoes' : " Set against the backdrop of 19th-century France, Les Misérables tells an enthralling story of broken dreams and unrequited love, passion, sacrifice and redemption-a timeless testament to the survival of the human spirit. Jackman plays ex-prisoner Jean Valjean, hunted for decades by the ruthless policeman Javert (Crowe) after he breaks parole. When Valjean agrees to care for factory worker Fantine's (Hathaway) young daughter, Cosette, their lives change forever. In December 2012, the world's longest-running musical brings its power to the big screen in Tom Hooper's sweeping and spectacular interpretation of Victor Hugo's epic tale. -- (C) Universal"

Table no 21 - my review

Hmmmm Fiona, it was nice ..

.....

haha ok well on a serious note, it was indeed a different movie, with a good message and well many good acting performances. ... Paresh Rawal in a negative role is always entertaining. Infact I kinda love negative roles. I am a big fan of Gabbar Singh (sholay),Din Dayal/LION (Kalicharan), Mogambo (Mr.India), Dr. Dang (Karma), Gulshan Grover, Ranjeet, Shakti kapoor... anyways lets not diviate from the topic.

Rajeev Khandelwal's choice of movies is worth applauding. The actor cannot be accused of getting repetitive since his choice of movies has been as diverse as chalk and cheese.

overall i had nothing to do one afternoon and so went and watched it with a sweet friend ... we liked it and thats about it.

The movie has a social message  and well the actress looks hot .. ah.. . supa hot !

Aniruddha Guha of DNA said: "Table No 21 is a reasonably decent effort. It's fairly well-shot (Ravi Walia), has good actors, and manages to hold your interest for the most part.

Ankur Pathak of Rediff.com said: "Table No. 21, the first genuine release of the centenary year of Hindi cinema is a psychological thriller that ends with a delectable twist, one which justifies the intent of the highly structured plot.

Roshni Devi of Koimoi.com said: "Table No. 21 tries hard to be a psychological thriller but ends up being a me-too, and then ruins things further with a social message type ending.

well Fiona you can now go and watch this movie and then I'l sms you and ask you to write your reviews about it too ... hmmmm you can write on my blog and be famous too if you want.

i cant believe i am typing all this when i am in class!! no wonder my students get good marks in their exams = I hardly teach !!

Oh My God

Its the season of festivals and I just enjoyed the festival of Eid hogging on biriyani, Its gonna be Diwali soon and my friends are gonna treat me to the core and then its gonna be Christmas! where I'l be running around in a suit for dances and parties... maintaining a clean shaven look trying to impress a few girlies around ....  life is so good likes this... We celebrating each others festivals and enjoying at each others feasts ... breaking the religious barriers and the beliefs we have. Its Humanity and Brotherhood written all over it.

.. and then comes Sushma Swaraj, yeah apparently she has gone public saying that she is upset at the attacts on Hindu Beliefs in the movie 'OMG'. Now we have all seen the movie OMG (for those of you who haven't, its an eye opener, go see it) and we know that the movie is made to highlight the Superstitions in all faiths and improve the society. As far as I know the movie has questioned superstitions (Andhvishwas ) in all faiths, So I am wondering if this is just a way of gaining importance and influencing the public (hindu majority).

If Sushma Swaraj is so interested about movies not hurting religious beliefs then she should stand up for every religion.
What is she doing when bollywood movies portray us Catholics as drunkards and our women with a lose character or less clothes??? Every girl at the bar in movies is named Julie, Rosy, Mary .... don't we know in reality there are non-Catholic names as well doing similar things a Catholic girl is shown doing in the movies?
and if that was not enough in the movie Kya Superkool Hai Hum which had offensive scenes of a Catholic priest shown solemnising a marriage between dogs, in the movie Kamaal Dhamaal Malamaal Catholic priest is dancing with a rosary around his neck and wearing a garland of lottery tickets with a church in the background, an actor is misusing and indiscriminately using the Holy Water Sprinkler, a priest with a bouquet of flowers with an 'I Love You' message, a notorious character with garlands of currency notes shown with the church in the background... May be Sushma Swraj should stand up for all this too if shes pretending to play an impartial minister or just quit with all the cute talk.

Swaraj further tells us (in the same article I read) that last year when Obama visited India and expressed his views on why India does not buy US dairy products, she enlightened him that our cows are vegetarian and their cows are non vegetarians as the people in US feed their cows meat.  lolz

Now besides Cows and Movies ... I am sure the lady has a lot more relative topics to talk about  that will uplift the society. We all are counting on that.

end of the road t20/2012

Dhoni’s Devils Go Down Fighting Finally

Now I agree it’s very easy for a fan/supporter/well wisher of the Indian cricket team like me to sit at home watch the game as I sip my beer and blog about why my team didn't make it..   I also know it’s easier said than done and all the other similar lines that go with it …  but yet there are a few things I’d like to point out as my opinion and what I felt about the very unfortunate departure of team India at the T20 world cup.

To start with let me mention that currently there is no team in international cricket that can restrict a Team like South Africa to 121 in 20 overs… and if they did, it would be the luckiest day of every player’s life in that team… So to expect team India to achieve such a milestone (especially with their current bowling attack) it was not really a very smart thing to do (although our tigers only let themselves down by scoring an ordinary 152 and but roared loud enough at regular intervals to keep me glued to star cricket till the end)

Even 7+4 couldn't hide the shameful form our batters are in.
Poor batting performances-cum-strategies cost team India a real close chance of qualifying to an opportunity of winning the cup. Gambhir was not impressive throughout; Viru couldn’t do what he does best but did manage to injure his leg at the end of it. Pathan was made to open twice in the earlier matches, now this really sucks if he is sent as a regular opener and not as a pinch hitter which was pretty much the case.  Leaving the last game Dhoni was not able to accelerate either, particularly his approach of slowing down the game while chasing is damn annoying.
Now our defeat to Australia was the main reason that we didn't qualify or Pakistan's unbelievable performances was??... is not the point. The fact that, a team like India with the world’s best batsmen couldn't pile a good 170 plus in a do or die match tells the story.

Bowling Mystery Haunts
The only bower I thought was effective throughout the tournament after Zak and Ashwin was Yuvi… LMAO! Dinda, Chawla, Harbhajan, Balaji did get wickets but not impressive at all. India needs that regular full time bowler (a pacer probably), someone who can really get in there, take wickets and scare the opponents. If we are gonna relay on our part timers (who no doubt are doing a super awesome job) we would surely manage to win games but just like today not be able to but pressure or restrict our opponents.

Hopefully our captain cool has made a few notes on this and comes back home wiser. As a fan and supporter I’d love to see Team India do well always.
