Yeah that’s right... IE can now be turned off in the new Windows 7!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just after European Commission (EC) sent Microsoft a statement of objections accusing the US software giant of unfairly tying Internet Explorer (IE) to windows and after Google too applied to join in the European Commission’s antitrust investigation in to Microsoft’s browser strategy…It seems like Microsoft has come out with a new defensive strategy in reply.
The complaint was originally brought before the EC by Opera Software, which said that Microsoft's practice of bundling Internet Explorer with its Windows operating system was anticompetitive behavior.
The disable option now allows the users to access browsers of their choice and tries to nullify all arguments, thus making Win 7 appear to have more control, flexibility and more choice of managing their programs. So has Microsoft done enough to save its skin???
Well there a couple of obstacles …
- IE is enabled by default for ALL new Windows installations, so most people will just stick with it. The turnoff / disable option is a post-setup ‘step’ … there is no option to completely remove IE… & even if you are never going to look at it, it would still mean that IE very much remains on your system.
- It is firmly believed that IE components are still used within the Windows Update app in Win 7.
As far as ppl like me are concerned.. who are not very fond of IE .. i don't think IE enabled or disabled will make any difference.
